wild child

jackJENNY2aSTOREfront.jpgThe women of Junk Gypsy Co. say they sell lots more than just stuff. They sell a lifestyle. The people who click on their Web site or visit one of their trade shows to buy a T-shirt, necklace or pair of vintage cowboy boots enter another world. And in the Junk Gypsy world there is no such thing as drab. Everything is hot pink and turquoise with glittery rhinestones, fringed suede and feathers. It’s a place where cowgirls are heroes, rock stars are gods, road trips last forever and junk is considered treasure.  they are wildly and madly wonderful and i love the mottos they live by (and sell on cool tee shirts)... No Gut's, No Glory...Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History...love them... check out their myspace and let your inner gypsy free.

vignettes

30.may.07

every few weeks, or daily even, if i happen to walk by something that catches my eye, i rearrange all the vignettes in my house.  i like changing things around.  i get bored of looking at the same thing in the same place all the time.  maybe it's from growing up in a living room you couldn't use.  "it's for company..." everything stayed exactly the same way for years- each vase, book, photo, etc. had it's place and didn't move.  ironically we didn't even have "company" that often... because that would mean people would have to traipse through the house with their shoes on and possibly move something or god forbid... spill their drink... yes, insanely neurotic, yet, very entertaining to watch my parents try to be social and nonchalant at the same time, yet all the while having mini heart attacks between cocktails worrying over someone knocking something over or moving a coaster.  but i digress... i am the opposite of that... as are my brother and sister...i enjoy moving things about, stacking books here and there, collecting and compiling...actually living in my house.

movie must see

25.may.07

one of my favorite writers is neil gaiman... he has written in a dizzying number of genres and formats: fantasy, horror, nonfiction, novels, short stories, screenplays, poetry, picture books, comic books, graphic novels, and song lyrics. astoundingly, he has met critical and popular success in everything he tries. The Dictionary of Literary Biography cites him as one of the world's top ten living post-modernists, and he has earned scores of awards.  gaiman’s characters are memorable and griping and although he is known for dark, complex storylines, he also peppers his work with literary and cultural references and British humor. so how happy am i that stardust is going to be released in august as a movie! (and i use exclamation points very rarely, as they're so overdone) starring  Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Sienna Miller, Ricky Gervais, Jason Flemyng, Peter O’Toole, with Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert De Niro . visit the site, parts are still under contstruction, but it's brilliant nonetheless.
